St Mary's 2008 House Block Cabernet Sauvignon

The St Mary’s 2008 House Block Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly classic example of a great Coonawarra wine. It has a very distinct currant, oak aroma and looks slightly lighter in colour then most Cabernet Sauvignons. The wine is very rich with strong Cabernet Sauvignon flavours. The process has a level of complexity to it but because of its slighty lighter presents, it can be put away for another 5 to 10 years for more complexity great Cabernet Sauvignon flavours. But don’t be afraid to open a bottle now.

More about St Mary's & Barry Mulligan

St Mary's is a very private, family owned, boutique premium red wine producer. The processing shed at St Mary’s contains one basket press. This means that all the grapes picked are being pressed through it. One press gives each wine a softer and more established character. The Mulligan family came to the Penola region in early 1909. The mulligan homestead was purchased 30 years after and the land was originally used for sheep grazing. One of the great aspects of the St Mary's estate is that it is 15km west of the town of Penola. It’s a private and relaxed place with wonderful gardens and a true rustic Penola atmosphere.
